BCSPORTSMX A.C. (commonly known as Baja Sports Mexico) is a subsidiary of Baja Sports, Inc. a U.S. non-profit 501 c3 that is the owner of Lord of the Wind.
The Rotary Club of East Cape uses profits from Lord of the Wind to help fund their various community projects. (See Rotary)
The goal of Baja Sports Mexico is to make the Lord of the Wind a world class kiting event. LOW has continuously become a better and better event with the help of Rotary and all the many volunteers. For the first time ever, the 2016 Lord of the Wind was designated the IKA (International Kiteboarding Association) Kite Foil North American Championship. And now, Lord of the Wind is being looked at for the Qualifying event for the 2018 YOUTH OLYMPIC GAMES. Currently the Board of Directors of Baja Sports Mexico (Jack Lentz, Judy Hart, Ian Gibson, Ken Phillips, and Jim Petrovic) are working on the 2017 Lord of the Wind Event January 18-22,2017 and at the same time the fund raising to be able to host the 2018 Qualifying Event for the Youth Olympic Games.
Also, Baja Sports Mexico was formed to assist athletes and high school students interested in kiting, competitive kiting and becoming a kiteboard instructor. One of the many goals of Baja Sports Mexico is to have the students compete in Lord of the Wind and eventually be able to receive their IKO certification to become instructors and/or work in the kiteboarding industry. Hopefully, by bringing the Youth Olympic Qualifier event to Los Barriles, the youth in this area will have a chance to compete on a world stage.
